STATUS EFFECTS AND YOU: A GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING ZGRAD'S STATUS EFFECTS

This guide will explain ZGRAD's Status Effects and Medical System

ZGRAD has many status effects, whether inflicted by another player or self inflicted.

This guide should help explain each effect, what it does, and most importantly how to get rid of it if necessary.

All of the following information is up to date as of 12/28/2025

Bleeding/Blood loss

Commonly caused from gunshots, sharp weapon damage or from physical damage (falls, hard impacts, etc.)

Blood is a very important resource, lose too much and you will faint and eventually die. (shocker right?)

Blood can be recovered from food items (excluding the harmful ones) and also from the bloodbag item. If you go comatose from bloodloss, it can only be replenished with a bloodbag from another player.

To heal bleeding, use a bandage or medkit. If you are feeling generous, they can also be applied to other players with right click.

Trauma/Pain

Simply put, pain is your regular damage taken. Too much pain will put you into shock, killing you.
Your trauma level also dictates how long you remain unconscious.

Pain is the most common affliction in ZGRAD, its caused from effectively all forms of damage.

Trauma/Pain reduces overtime, however there are items to drastically reduce it.

Medkits and Morphine are the most effective ways at reducing your trauma level. If another player are unconscious, you can hold RMB then LMB to preform CPR on them to reduce their trauma and revive them quicker (at the cost of your stamina)

Broken bones

Commonly caused from blunt weapon damage and falls, also can be caused from high speed landings while ragdolled.

Broken bones are a major disadvantage. While a broken bone wont kill you, it will hinder you one way or the other.

Broken arms cause your aim to be misaligned, while broken legs make you take large amounts of trauma/pain when you run. Broken spine prevent you from standing and is completely incurable.

The only way to cure broken bones are with splints (this excludes a broken spine)

Stamina/Exhaustion/adrenaline

Stamina is a resource that is used for running, melee attacks, and ragdoll climbing. Its also possible to lose stamina from bloodloss.

Low stamina makes you move slower, unable to run, and your melee attacks are slower.

Some food items also can give you a temporary adrenaline status effect, which makes you run significantly faster and have an increased amount of stamina far above the normal maximum. (You will know its in effect when your view becomes sharper)
BE WARNED: STACKING ADRENALINE EFFECTS CAN DEAL TRAUMA DAMAGE AND CAN LEAD TO A HEART ATTACK, KILLING YOU.

Stamina replenishes overtime, or instantly with adrenaline. It can also be partly be replenished with food items.

INSANITY

Caused primarily from eating human gibs, but eating some food items (like rats) can can also cause it at a slower rate. You can also throw the same food items to deal sanity damage to other players.

Insanity is arguably both a buff and debuff depending on who you ask. It provides the ability to periodically hear dead players but also makes your view blurry and inverted grayscale.

It is impossible to recover from insanity, it only is removed on death or when a new round starts.

Poisoned

Caused from either coming in contact with toxic powder or biotoxin from a traitor, getting hit by a zombie, or from eating dead rats (why would you do that?!) (No indicator appears!)

Poison slowly damages you while putting a infected overlay in view. It progresses in stages and will kill you slowly, but can be treated if you are lucky.

Poison can be cured immediately with an antidote, or you have a chance at removing it or lowering the poison stage by vomiting. (Default: P)

Stunned/Tased

Exclusively caused by electric damage. Usually from tasers, the warlock sword, or rollermines. (No indicator appears!)

Being stunned keeps you from being able to move while also being stuck in ragdoll. You also take a mild amount of trauma damage during.

Stunned is removed after a set time, being hit by an electric weapon again restarts the effect.

Lucky

Caused from eating foods that provide additional luck. Examples of these are: fortune cookies, oranges, and a succulent Chinese meal. (No indicator appears!)

Luck currently only serves one purpose, increased luck makes you more likely to get the higher tier items from the magic die.
Unless you keep track of it, its impossible to determine your current luck level, it nevertheless does still exist though.

Theoretically, eating a large amount of food items that provide luck can practically guarantee you a 20 roll. But the amount will remain unspecified.

Fire/Burning

Caused by getting hit by a roman candle, molotov, or standing in an already existing fire (Idiot..) (No indicator appears!)

Burning simply deals trauma damage over time.

Burning dissipates quickly after leaving the source of fire, or a few seconds after getting hit with a roman candle.

Misc Drug effects

Caused by consuming the many drugs you can find in ZGRAD (No indicator appears!)

Each effect tends to affect your view or hearing in some form, try it for yourself to know what each one does!

The effect is removed with the Water item (not to be confused for the water bottle, it is used upon being grabbed)

The holy grail: THe magic orb

To wrap up this guide its worth briefly talking about the orb.

It is the only item in all of ZGRAD that remedies almost all negative status effects (except broken spines, you guys get to stay in your wheelchairs)
Every 5-6 seconds anyone near the orb gets a massive healing boost and replenishes blood, fixes broken legs and arms, removes pain, cures poison and all of that to anyone close to the orb.

We hope this guide helps explain the ZGRAD medical system, or at the very least teaches you something you didnt know earlier.
